The Malaysian police have not said that the two Maldivian arrested in Malaysia were involved in any terrorist activities. They said that the two men were trying to go to Syria by using Malaysia as a transit point.
Hence, it cannot be said that they were planning a terrorist attack in Malaysia. So it is important to report the matter correctly.
Even though there are Maldivians in Syria, so far no Maldivian has committed any act of terror in any other country. So it is irresponsible to report the matter saying that Maldivians were involved in a terror plot in Malaysia.
The fact that they were arrested in a special operation conducted by the police, is not proof that they were planning an act of terror. People were arrested from different areas of Malaysia and the two Maldivians were arrested from Johor. Another Malaysian was also arrested with them and the police did not say that he is a terrorist either.
