Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee have said that the development brought to the health sector by this administration is unmatched to the development brought by all past administrations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 70th regional meeting of WHO, Dr.Shainee said that the tallest building that is being built in Male’ is designated for health services and this shows the priority given to the health sector by the government.
Dr.Shainee said that when the government assumed office there were only 9 pharmacies run by the government but today there are 187 state run pharmacies.
In addition, he said that Male’ the home for more than 50 percent of the population was a concrete jungle when the government assumed office, but today the government has created parks and beaches for the people to relax. He said that as a result people live a stress-free life.
Furthermore, Dr.Shainee said meanwhile the first lady Fathimath Ibrahim is conducting volunteer work to help people with disabilities. Dr.Shainee said that there are difficulties in providing health services because the islands are dispersed but the government is facilitating ways to overcome these challenges.
He said that when the government assumed office, there were only 4 speed launches used in the health sector but now if someone is sick, that person can be taken to a regional hospital within 45 minutes He said that tertiary hospitals are being developed in different areas.
Dr.Shainee said that everyone who visits Maldives will know the development in the health sector and all these has been achieved within the last three years. In addition he said that this has been achieved due to the well planned policies of President Yameen.
