Health ministers of south and south-east Asia has signed the Male’ Declaration on Building Health Systems Resilient to Climate Change.
The declaration was signed during the round table meeting of health ministers of south and south-east Asia. The topic of the roundtable discussion was on preparing for the dangers that come with climate change. The meeting was chaired by the Health Minister of Maldives Abdullah Nazim.
There were two rounds of discussion. In the first round, all health ministers were questioned regarding the work done by their respective countries in being resilient to climate change with regard to the health sector. In addition the ministers shared the success stories from their countries and all ministers got the chance to answer the questions.
In the second round of questions, the ministers were allowed to present the areas in which they need the help of WHO to achieve the programs they are conducting to make health systems more resilient to climate change.
