Home Minister Azleen Ahmed have said that the government gave special importance to facilitate Qasim Ibrahim to leave abroad for treatment.
Azleen said that there are procedures that needs to be completed if someone gets a jail sentence. He said that once these procedures were completed Qasim was given the permission to leave.
In addition he said that hence, the accusations by the opposition saying that the government is not sincere regarding Qasim’s case is false. Azleen also said that instead of a temporary travel document, Qasim was given his passport under a special privilege by the president. Furthermore, Azleen said that he visited Qasim Ibrahim to check on him and that he was sent by the President as his representative.
Qasim has now left for Singapore. Qasim was also allowed to use the VIP lounge of the airport and people who went to see him off were given that chance as well.
