Maldives Transport and Contracting Company has been contracted with upgrading harbors of 4 islands.
The four islands are, Ha.Vashafaru, R.Hulhudhuhfaaru, Sh.Maaungoodhoo and M.Veyvashu. In a ceremony held at Housing Ministry, Housing Minister Dr.Mohammed Muizzu signed on behalf of the ministry while CEO of MTCC Ibrahim Ziyath signed on behalf of MTCC.
Under the agreement, the harbor of Vashafaru will be extended up to 42 meters and navigation lights will be installed. Meanwhile, the length of Hulhuduhfaaru harbor will be extended up to 79 meters and navigation lights will be installed. The harbor of Maaungoodhoo is to be upgraded within 200 days and the project costs 14.4 million Rufiyaa.
Furthermore, the harbor of Veyvashu should be upgraded within 180 days and the project costs 9.4 million Rufiyaa. Under this project a 58 meter key wall will be developed and maintenance dredging will be conducted.
