Housing Ministry have said that, the work of installing I beams needed for the superstructure of the bridge is going on and hence bridge deck will be completed very soon.
I Beam has been installed to a distance of 150 feet starting from the coast. Once I beams are installed, the superstructure of the bridge will be brought from China and fixed on it. In addition, the concrete work of the 35 beams in the main bridge and the 88 beams in the approach bridge is almost completed.
According to Housing Minister Dr.Mohammed Muizzu the super structure of the bridge will be completed in May 2018.
China Maldives Friendship Bridge costs 200 million dollars and 116 million dollars is Chinese aid.
