Deputy Minister for Environment Ali Amir, have said that the “Clean Maldives” project is a high priority project for President Yameen.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the ministry to award contracts to 5 companies to manage waste in five islands, he said that these projects are closely monitored by the President. He said that the projects are funded by the Public Service Investment Program budget of the state.
In addition he said that this year the government has spent a record amount in waste management sector.
