Health Minister Abdullah Nazim have said that eliminating dengue fever from Maldives is a major aim of the health sector.
He made this statement while speaking at the closing ceremony of training workshop for health care providers on clinical recognition and management of dengue.
The minister said that even though 2000 people from Maldives contacted dengue in the past two years, the aim of the health sector is to eliminate the disease from Maldives.
The workshop was conducted by Health Protection Agency and National Center for Information Technology from 25th to 27th September. The purpose of the workshop is to learn how to make the best use of the tests available to test for dengue.
Doctors and nurses from all regional hospitals in the Maldives took part in the training program.
