Managing Director of STELCO, Ahmed Zuhoor have said even though STO increased price of fuel based on the world oil markets, STELCO will not change the price of electricity.
Speaking to Miadhu News, he said that the President has decided to provide electricity at the cheapest possible rate and hence he will try to implement this decision of the president.
“We do not have any plans to increase the price of electricity. We are trying to get a subsidy from the government so that there will be no burden on the people. President Yameen does not want to increase the price of electricity” said Zuhoor.
Zuhoor said that when the price of oil increases in the world markets, it will affect Maldives in various ways but the government is trying to minimize the effect it has on the people.
