President Yameen and the First Lady to meet senior citizens tonight in a public gathering
Spokesperson of the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali have said that the President and the First Lady will meet senior citizens tonight at Rasfannu. The meeting will be open to the public.

Speaking to the press at Muliyaage, Muaz said that everyone can enter Rasfannu area from an entrance at Majeedhee Magu and that there is no age limit for tonight’s meeting.

“This is a public meeting targeted for senior citizens” said Muaz.

Muaz said that this meeting is organized by the President and the First Lady, and all relevant state authorities will take part in preparing for the meeting. In addition he said that this is the second meeting of the kind and the president meets a senior citizen every day.

Muaz said that it was President Yameen who started using the term “ Senior citizens” in Maldives. “Presient did not start serving senior citizens after assuming office. The term Madhana also was formed while he was a cabinet minister” said Muaz.

Furthermore Muaz said that one of the most important steps taken by the president upon assuming office was increasing elderly pension to RF 5000. “Now all grandmothers and grandfathers will get 10,000 Rufiyaa in total” said Muaz.

Muaz requested senior citizens to attend tonight’s gathering.
