Islamic Foundation of the Maldives has handed over the funds raised for Rohingya Muslims to Islamic Relief Worldwide.
The funds were handed over by the President of Islamic Foundation of the Maldives Ibrahim Fauzy, former Islamic Minister Dr.Abdul Majeed Abul Baary and the secretary general of the NGO Ibrahim Nazim. They are in Bangladesh at the moment to monitor the situation.
Ulaam Muthassim, the head of humanitarian program of Islamic Relief Worldwide to Bangladesh accepted the relief aid on behalf of the organization.
In the Islamic Foundaation’s trip to Bangladesh they have also provided clothing to the people living in Refugee camps. Islamic Foundation noted that they got a lot of support from various island councils, NGOs, state institutions and individuals in raising funds for Rohingya people.
Islamic Relief Worldwide assisted Islamic Foundation of Maldives in 2011 in delivering aid to Somalia. At that time the foundation provided one month’s supply of food sufficient for 83,000 people.
Representatives of Islamic Foundation went to Bangladesh on 2nd October and will return on 9th October.
