74 nursing students have departed to India for clinical experience. These nursing students are being trained as part of the government’s effort to train 500 nurses.
Education Minister Dr.Aishath Shiham met with the nursing students before they departed. Speaking to them she said that more than 1000 students expressed interest in taking part in the nursing course and hence they will conduct more programs.
“Health sector of Maldives is in need of nurses. We will conduct these programs till we meet the required number of trained nurses” said the minister.
In addition the minister said that in the past 3 years, 2000 students were trained by TVET in different fields and even now they are conducting programs in schools.
“President Yameen wants the youth to have training in fields that they want to pursue. He wants the youth to work and provide them with job opportunities” said the minister.
