MDP has filed a motion to the parliament, requesting to remove Fathimath Zeyna a member of Maldives Broadcasting Commission.
MDP filed a motion to remove Zeyna after she has received criticism for taking part in preparing last night’s event organized by the President and the First Lady.
In a letter sent to Ali Saleem the chair of the oversight committee for independent institutions, MDP stated that Zeyna’s impartiality is in question because she was active in preparing a political event. The letter says that since, the event had nothing to do with Broadcasting Commission, Zeyna should not have any role in it.
Furthermore the letter stated that even before Zeyna was appointed to the positions he was active in PPM activities and that she is seen from PPM activities even now. In addition it stated that, since she is politically active like this, it will undermine the impartiality of the broadcasting commission.
