STO has officially introduced Kone, a Finnish brand elevator to Maldives.
In a ceremony held at Hotel Jen today, the elevators were officially launched by Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer, MD of STO Ahmed Shaheer and MD of Kone Douglas Paai.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ahmed Shaheer said that if STO introduces a new product they always try to introduce products that a well known in the world and products which they can give after sales service.
“Kone brand elevators are well received all over the world. It is affordable as well” said Shaheer.
Shaheer said that the people of Maldives wants quality products that lasts long. “Countries like China has a GDP growth rate of 7 percent. Having a 5 percent growth rate for a country like Maldives is a huge achievement. Hence the people of Maldives wants to improve the quality of their lives” said Shaheer.
In addition, he said that even though as per the regulations only 5 stories buildings should have elevators, people wants to install them on two storied buildings as well. He said that Kone manufactures lifts for buildings of all sizes.
Shaheer said that 35 percent of the Maldivian economy is shared by the construction industry and hence, the country is in need of quality elevators for all the buildings that are being developed.
“Private and government sector projects are often delayed because delays in procuring materials. Hence elevators should also be provided on time. We considered all those things while choosing Kone brand” said Shaheer.
Shaheer further said that STO always tried to introduce products which are needed by the public. He highlighted some products such as Lafarge cement, ready mix cement, and many home appliances.
