MP for Kelaa constituency Ali Arif have said that the people want economic development and increased quality of life and hence, they will not support any movement that will hinder this.
Speaking at a gathering held last night by PPM, Ali Arif said that the people of Maldives saw how previous presidents governed the country and they can also see how President Yameen is governing the country. He said that hence the truth cannot be distorted.
Ali Arif said that the questioned they faced in Europe were asked because some people from Maldives pressured to do that. He said that they were worried that Islam is being promoted in the Maldives and because the government refuses to allow other religions in Maldives. “ I told them the constitution of the Maldives mandates the government to do that because that is what the people of Maldives wants” said Ali Arif.
Ali Arif said that when some regions in European countries try to secede it becomes a domestic issue but they try to interfere in the domestic affairs of Maldives. He said that this happens because some people promised Europeans to build churches in Maldives.
