Medical equipment worth 14 Million Rufiyaa has been donated by Japan non-project grand aid to the Maldives.
A special ceremony was held at Health Ministry today to handover the equipment. Speaking at the ceremony Health Minister Nazim said that the equipment will be distributed to atoll health facilities.
He said that they will distribute the equipment based on a need basis after assessing the health centers in the atolls. The minister said that the equipment are already in Maldives and soon they will start distribution soon.
The minister said that Japan is always a close partner of Maldives in development and that Maldives always receives assistance from Japan. He said that when the medical equipment are provided to the islands, the quality of services will improve.
Furthermore, he said that it is a very important policy of President Yameen to improve the quality of health services in the atolls. The equipment were accepted by Minister Nazim on behalf of the government and Japanese Ambassador to Maldives Kazumi handed over the equipment.
