Parliament has passed the budget of the Audit Office for the year 2018.
In the parliament session held today, the parliament passed 50 million Rufiyaa as the Audit Office’s budget.
Budget was passed with votes from 34 members. The parliament passed the budget as proposed by the audit office. Even the financial committee of the parliament approved this budget during the committee’s review of the budget.
Opposition members did not take part in the vote. Speaking about the budget, Auditor General Ziyath said that the work load of their office has increased and that they have to audit local council offices as well. He said that hence they need more staffs and they proposed this budget taking all these things into consideration.
Meanwhile the Audit Office had a budget of 46 million Rufiyaa this year. According to the constitution, the budget of the Audit Office should be passed separately from the state budget.
