Mobile application of Maldives Education Management Information System (MEMIS) has been launched.
In a ceremony held at STELCO the app was launched by Education Minister Dr.Aishath Shiham. The application will be able to store data of all teachers and students and it can be accessed through one platform.
The system was launched with the help of UNICEF. Using the system schools can ensure that students attend school and information such as health and discipline of the students can be accessed from the app as well.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said that the teachers can check attendance using their phones and now they are improving internet technologies in the schools. She said that the app can also store information about student grades as well. Furthermore she said that they plan to launch an app for parents as well and then the parents can check records of students under their supervision as well.
In addition minister said that previously all these records were kept manually and there were various challenges in using them for various purposes.
