Ha.Kelaa has won the Leading Beach Island Award of MATATO Maldives Travels Awards.
In the award ceremony held last night, the award was accepted by the president of Ha.Kelaa Council, Adam Gufran and council member Aishath Mizna.
Speaking to Miadhu News, Adam Gufran said that the award was achieved with the hard work of all the islanders. “The award was won with the hard work of the council and all the people. We had high hopes for this. This is the result of teamwork by everyone” said Adam Gufran.
The council president said that they ran a social media campaign also to get votes for the award and went door to door, telling people how to message to vote for the award.
Kelaa has one of the most beautiful beaches in Maldives. Many Maldivians and foreigners visit the island for holidays as a result. In addition, the people of Kelaa are very friendly and hospitable. The island won the award with the hard work of everyone in the island.
