Health Protection Agency have stated that the vaccination coverage in Maldives is higher than 95 percent.
In a press conference held by HPA today, the director general of public health of HOA, Maimoona Aboobakr said that it has been a long time since Maldives reached the 95-percentage mark. She said that this is the main reason for all other achievements in the health sector.
She said that non-communicable diseases like polio, malaria, filaria, and measles have been eradicated from Maldives. She said that some challenges include the problems faced by climate challenge and unhealthy habits such as smoking and use of unhealthy diets.
Maimoona said that the main health challenges are as a result of bad lifestyle habits. She also said that increase of expats in Maldives is also a challenge.
