The British are learning many things from Maldives now : President Yameen
President Yameen have said that the British are learning many things from Maldives now and that Maldives has nothing new to learn from the UK.

Speaking to the people of F.Nilandhoo he said that the UK left EU soon after Maldives left the Commonwealth.

“When working groups in UN make decisions contradictory to the decisions made by Maldivian institutions we told them that we do not accept that and that we will implement the decisions made by Maldivian institutions. That’s why we did it” said the President.

President Yameen said that a week after that, in response to a UN working group decision made against the UK, they responded saying that “they do not accept the decision because no one there knows the British constitution” said the President.

President said that the British started many things for the first time but after a while some other countries do better than the British. “The sun has set on the British state. Hence I do not think we have much to learn from them” said the President.

President Yameen said that Maldivians have embarked on a long journey and that Maldivians have done many things for democracy, ensured rights of senior citizens, created independent institutions, and empowered them.

President Yameen said that the people of the Maldives are on a bus and ready for the journey and it is the politicians who have not boarded the bus. “They cannot digest to see people walking from Male’ to Hulhule’ “said the president.
