Health Minister Abdullah Nazim have said that the Maldives is achieving significantly in public health sector.
He made this statement while speaking at a press conference held by HPA today. The minister said that in 2015 WHO noted that Maldives has successfully eradicated filaria and measles. He said that even now they are working towards similar goals and it includes eradicating TB.
Furthermore he said that they are working on preventing HIV transmission from mother to child and also on minimizing other non-communicable diseases.
Minister Nazim said that there are two components of the health sector and one is establishing a mechanism to treat when people get sick and the second component is to raise awareness on how various diseases and introduce preventive mechanisms.
