Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee have said that Maldives has made significant achievements in Islamic finance within a short period and is working for further development.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Islamic Monetary Economics and Institutions workshop, Dr.Shainee said that it was the current administration that started working on to develop Islamic finance in Maldives. He said that Maldives appeared on global ranks of Islamic Finance on 2016.
Dr.Shainee said that Maldives has made global achievements within a short period and Maldives is now among the top 15 countries in the field of Islamic finance.
The minister said that even though Maldives is small and resource scarce, the dreams and aspirations of Maldivians are huge.
Dr.Shainee said that even though there are countries who introduced Islamic finance way before Maldives, it is Maldives which expressed interest to make Maldives a hub for Islamic finance.
