It is important to uphold laws while working against terrorism: Adam Shareef
Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that it is important to uphold laws while working against terrorism.

Speaking at the ceremony held to launch the national strategic plane against terrorism, the defence minister said that there are 5 important things to keep in mind while working against terrorism. He said that they are, upholding laws, education, economy, social cohesion and maintaining religious harmony.

In addition, the minister said that previously two researches were done to assess terror threats in Maldives and this newly launched plan will help all relevant authorities to work together. He said that Maldives is working against terrorism, with international partners. “ In July this year we conducted an international conference with the help of UNOFC. Next week a conference with participants from 19 countries will begin” said the minister.

Minister said that Maldives benefits by strengthening relations with foreign partners with regard to this sector. He noted the relation with Turkey. In addition, he said that this also helps in bringing back those who go abroad to join foreign wars.

Adam Shareef said that the government needs cooperation from all relevant institutions in the government’s anti-terror efforts.
