Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that many people are killed by terrorist everyday and Maldivians should be alert as well.
Speaking at a ceremony held to mark victory day, the minister said that Maldivian soldiers are alert and ready to defend the nation.
He said that people who ruled Maldives hundreds of years ago left Maldives and tried to invade the country with foreign help. He said that there were also Maldivian kings who left Islam as well. The minister said that secularism and radicalism were present in the Maldivian society even before. He said that these two ideologies are threats to the nation.
The minister said that to be safe from this everyone should try their best to follow Islam. In addition he said that to remain safe everyone must be moderate and the true version of religion should be taught to everyone.
