Government has submitted the forecasted state budget of 2018 to the parliament.
Details of the budget proposed by the government is not clear. The state budget for this year was 26.8 billion Rufiyaa. Including the supplementary budget passed last week the total budget for this year will be 27.3 billion Rufiyaa.
The government proposed a supplementary budget because the government forecasted that the state will spend more than the budget passed by the parliament last year.
Even though there is a parliament session scheduled for tomorrow, submitting the budget to the floor is not on the agenda. According to the constitution, the government should submit the state budget detailing the expected revenues and expenditures before the year starts. As per the financial regulations act, the budget should be submitted by October of every year.
