Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that Maldivians used to be Buddhists and there will be people who are worried because Maldivians became Muslims. He said that hence the army should always be ready.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of three courses conducted by MNDF, the minister said that the Defense College should focus on doing more research. He said that the college should conduct researches based on world politics and without such studies it will not be possible to make policies.
The minister said that what is happening outside the country will also affect the Maldives and we can only save the country from external threats only by conducting research. He further highlighted the importance of conducting research in collaboration with Maldivian National University.
