Mohammed Wiam Abdullah and Mohammed Aahil of Ghazzee School has won the 1st place of Ozone Model Competition conducted by Environment Ministry.
The prize for the first place is an all-expenses paid trip to Bangkok. During the trip, they winners will get the chance to visit the UN Ozone Action Office. The second place of the competition was won by Ali Aiham, Shainee Hussein and Mohammed Samih of Ghaazee School. The price for the second place is a resort trip and the winners can observe the process of refrigeration and air-conditioning of the resort.
The third place of the competition was won by Azha Asad Musthafa, Mariyam Nalash Nazim and Aminath Neem. The prize for the third place is a visit to a fish canning factory and the winners can observe the process of refrigeration and air-conditioning of the factory.
The competition was held to mark the 30th anniversary of Montreal Protocol and it was held from 16th September to 16th November.
The prizes were handed over to the winners by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim. The theme of the competition was protecting the ozone layer and climate change.
World Ozone Day is marked on 16th September every year.
