Groundbreaking ceremony for the water bottling plant at Kulhudhuhfushi has been held today. Speaking at the ceremony, the MD of MWSC Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed said that the factory that will be developed by Island Beverages will cost 25 million Rufiyaa. “This year they will bottle 300ml, 500ml and 1.5-liter bottles. Next year 5-liter bottles will be bottled. With that the investment will increase to 30 million Rufiyaa” said Fazul.
Fazul said that this project has created around 20 jobs even now. He said that in future the jobs will increase. In addition he said that they have started a similar project in R.Dhuvaafaru. He said that when water is bottled within the atolls it will be easy to get water and the price will decrease too. Furthermore, Fazul said that the President’s vision is to make water available from all islands of Maldives at an affordable rate.
