President Yameen has officially inaugurated the land reclamation project of Kulhudhuhfushi.
In a ceremony held at Kulhudhuhfushi today, the president inaugurated the project. Also this will be the first time the suction dredger of MTCC going to be used in a project in Maldives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tourism Minister Zameer said that the project will be completed within 30 days and then they will start the work of the protective wall. He said that once that work is completed they will level the ground and start the work of the airport. He said that the airport will be completed in mid-2018.
Moosa Zameer said that the land is reclaimed from the budget of Regional Airport Office. He said hence the airport will be developed very soon.
The minister said that this project will benefit the people. He said that resorts and guest houses in the region will also benefit as result of the project. The minister said that after Kulhudhuhfushi, then the dredger will be taken to Shaviyani Funadhoo to reclaim land in the island. He said that by mid-2018 all the planned airports will be finished.
