Deputy Ambassador to UN from Maldives Farzana Zahir has delivered a speech at UNGA wearing the cultural dress of Maldives (Dhivehi Libaas).
Previously some female diplomats have worn Dhivehi Libaas and Maldivian National Dress while delivering their credentials to the leaders of the host countries. Earlier this year when the official statement from Maldives was delivered in UNGA, all female diplomats were wearing Maldivian national dress.
Farzaana is the first Maldivian to wear national clothes while delivering a speech at UN General Assembly.
