Economic Ministry conducts the 3rd Regional SME Finance Forum
Ministry of Economic Development has conducted the 3rd Regional Small and Medium Enterprises Finance Forum in Kulhudhuhfushi.

The third forum was targeted for small businesses from Haa Dhaalu Atoll. Around 150 participants took part in the forum including small businesses from the islands of Haa Dhaalu and other partner institutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the one-day forum, Adam Thaufeeq the Deputy Minister of Economic Ministry, stated the importance the president is giving towards developing SMEs as it was neglected in the past. He said that the current administration understands the importance of supporting small businesses and to provide all the necessary support in making business environment more conductive for small businesses to flourish.

He also highlighted the work the ministry is undertaking on strengthening the regulatory frameworks and also the credit guarantee scheme which was launched last year and the many financial schemes launched with such low interest rates, is now making the banks also look into the SMEs as better clients and revising their structures to accommodate this.

The regional forum held by Economic Ministry is part of the Enterprise Development initiative by the ministry. So far 3 forums have been organized, where the first one was held in S.Gan focusing on SMEs from Addu and Fuvahmulah City. The second forum was held in M.Mulak focusing on SMEs from Meemu Atoll.
