HSBC has issued a notice saying that they will close inactive accounts.
The notice says that accounts that has been inactive for 5 years will be considered as dormant accounts and they made this decision in accordance with the article 35 of the banking legislation of Maldives.
The bank published a list of 73 savings account and 25 current accounts which are inactive.
The notice further states that if the owners of the account fail to withdraw the money in these accounts, then the accounts will be closed and the money will be sent to MMA.
