Record amounts of scholarships will be given next year : President Yameen

President Yameen have stated that next year record amount of scholarships will be given. He said that 3000 student loan opportunities will be given because the purpose of next year’s budget is youth development.

Speaking at the ceremony held to give Youth Awards last night, the president said that the budget consists of various components that will bring youth development. He said that the one of the most important part of the budget is the social housing project of the government. “All parents cannot provide housing for their children. So it is the responsibility of the president to do that” said President Yameen.

President Yameen said that in the past years, the maximum amount of scholarships given per year is 1000 but next year he will increase it to 3000. He said that even now students study through student loans and it is nothing new.

“We are doing this because, we are not making job opportunities for foreigners but for Maldivians. That can be done by training Maldivians” said the President.

President Yameen said that the Velana Airport development project and airport development projects all over the country will expand the tourism sector and create thousands of new jobs. He said all of this will benefit the youth.
