Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Zhan Lizong have stated that Maldives is among the most popular destinations among the Chinese tourists.
He said that the white beaches, crystal clear waters and green palms are reasons that attract Chinese tourists to Maldives. He said that the fact that most number of tourist arrivals to Maldives are from China for 7 consecutive years is proof of how popular Maldives is among Chinese tourists.
“more than one third of the tourists to Maldives are from China. More than 20 flights from 13 routes travel between Maldives and China” said the ambassador. He said that as a result more jobs are being created in the tourism sector of Maldives. In addition he said that this inflow of tourists have also strengthened the relations between people of both countries.
Furthermore, he said that Maldives is a full partner of the 21st century silk route and noted that the work of the bridge and airport development project will be finished next year.
