Foreign Minister Dr.Asim have said that even the foreign ministry is working to develop the economy.
Speaking to the press at a press conference held at President’s Office he said that foreign ministry is involved in communicating with other countries to bring in investments to Maldives. He said that the ministry is working for this through missions and embassies in other countries. He said that they also work to promote the tourism industry.
He said that the Foreign Ministry plays an active role in assisting in investment forums held by the government in other countries. Dr.Asim said that once the FTA is established it will benefit Maldives and elevate the position of Maldives internationally.
Furthermore he said that establishing a FTA is not a small feat and hence a lot of time was taken for the negotiations.
