MD of STO, Ahmed Shaheer have said that the government has turned majority of the state companies into profitable companies within a short period.
Speaking on TVM, he said that even has seen lot of development and it was not only STO that saw this development.
He said that the government spent a lot to reclaim the land of Hulhumale’ second phase but now MTCC has bought a dredger and that dredger is getting projects overseas as well. He said that as for Island Aviation, when the government assumed office the fleet was small but now they have acquired more planes and started direct flights to destinations in China and India.
“The government brought development to all the companies, not only the big companies” said Shaheer.
Shaheer said that when government assumed office, STO had lot of foreign debt but that has been solved now.
“Now we do not have shortage of foreign currency. The ques people made outside banks to buy dollars have disappeared” said Shaheer.
