MP for Mahibadhoo constituency Ahmed Thoriq have said that selling shares of profitable state companies to foreign companies damages the economy.

Thoriq said that Dhiraagu and MWSC are profitable companies and that the state incurred a huge loss when shares of the companies were sold. He said that the country did not benefit in anyway from this transaction.

“It did not benefit anyway, and the government lost a lot of revenue” said Thoriq.

Previously tourism minister Zameer said that the government is trying to buy back the shares sold to foreign companies.
