Island Electricity Data Book 2017 has been launched
Island Electricity Data Book 2017, a booklet about statistics related to the energy consumption of Maldives has been released. This is the third booklet of the series.

The book was officially released by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim during a ceremony held at Environment Ministry. The book includes important information such as infrastructure established in islands to provide electricity and many other relevant statistics.

In addition, the book consists of the achievements of the renewable energy sector within the last 10 years and important information about the amount of renewable energy used in resorts. According to the book, in ‎2016 445,036 tons of diesel, 47,794 tons of petrol, 30,611 tons of aviation gas, and 13,619 tons of cooking gas was imported to Maldives.

In addition, it shows that in 2016, 628 gigawatts of electricity were used in inhabited islands. Out of this 59.8 percent was used in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’. In the past few years 6 megawatts of solar energy systems were installed all over the Maldives.
