The councilors of Ga.Atoll who were suspended by LGA for meeting with a foreign diplomat without permission, has filed a case at the Civil Court requesting to lift the suspension.
They requested to lift the suspension and for a temporary order to let them work during the trial period. All the suspended councilors are MDP members and the case was submitted by MDP and the councilors.
They were suspended after they met with Indian Ambassador to Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra after LGA released a circular asking elected officials not to meet with foreign ambassadors without a special permission.
However the councilors claim that they got the circular after they finished the meeting and hence they should not be punished.
