Maldives has co-sponsored the resolution submitted to the General Assembly of UN by Yemen and Turkey regarding Jerusalem.
Maldivian Ambassador to UN, Dr.Ali Naseer tweeted today saying that Maldives will always support o make East Jerusalem the capital of Palestine.
Dr.Ali Naseer also delivered a speech at today’s general assembly. In the vote for the resolution, only 6 countries voted against it. Those countries that voted against the resolution includes USA, Israel and Canada.
Meanwhile, US President, Donald Trump has warned that US will cut foreign aid to those countries which votes for the resolution.
