Starting from 2019, there will be all new projects included in the budget: President Yameen

President Yameen have said that all the projects started by the government will be completed by the end of 2018 and that the 2019 budget will have all new projects.

Speaking at the ceremony held to officially open the harbor developed in N.Holhudhoo, the President said that 61 million Rufiyaa was spent to develop the harbor of Holhudhoo and that it is not possible to conduct high quality project for a low price at a fast speed.

President said that Maldivians have dreams and that Maldivians are dreaming of things that can be achieved. “Maldivians want to work at NASA. They want to be world class gynecologists” said the President.

He said that if people just want to use brute force, then many will end up in jail and the government should develop jails instead of other developmental projects. “The state has to spend 5 times more for an inmate, than that is spent on a higher secondary student” said the President.

President said that even Maldivians want access to high quality health services that is available in countries like USA. He said that the 25 story Dharumanvantha Hospital will provide such services. President noted that, despite that fact, the politicians are keen on pointing out the “problems” in the building rather than focusing on the services that will be available from the building.

He said that the people want the government to accomplish things that were previously thought impossible. President said that the fact that Maldivian students compete internationally and win is proof that Maldives can compete with other countries.
