President Yameen requests not to respond to the comments made by non-state actors in India regarding the China-Maldives FTA
President Yameen has requested Maldivian media not to respond to the comments made by non-state actors in India regarding the China-Maldives free trade agreement.

Speaking at a ceremony held to officially inaugurate Velidhoo Harbour, the President said that India is a close ally and hence no one in Maldives should disrespect Indian politicians.

“For sure, the government will not do it. India assists us a lot. We have trade agreement with India and we are working on to create a free trade agreement with India” said the President.

He said that, responding to comments made by Indian journalists and individuals is unproductive and everyone should think before responding.
