MMPRC has decided to include a VR quality 360-degree chart of Maldives on Visit Maldives website. This project is being conducted by Gecko Indonesia for free. An agreement was signed between the company and MMPRC today.
According to MMPRC this will be a first in the whole world to include such a map on a website. Using this chart, resorts, islands and many other features of Maldives can be accessed from anywhere in the world. The MD of MMPRC, Haaris said that this will help in tourism promotion as well.
According to Gecko they will take areal photographs of the Maldives using drones. The view people see of Maldives while flying, will be shown on the chart. Haaris said that even though it will take one year to complete the project, by March 2018, they expect to finish a significant amount of the chart and hence, they will be able to show it at ITB Fair in 2018.
