An Indian journalist have said that Indians are not fully aware of the guest house rates I Maldives.
Indian journalist Akhthar who works for a newspaper based in Mumbai, said that most Indians believe that Maldives is the most expensive destination in the world. He said that they believe that it is impossible to get a room without spending 300-400 dollars per day.
He said that since most Indians are middle class, it is important to let them know about the cheap guest house option. “Most middle class Indians do not consume alcohol. It will not be a big problem for Indians not to get alcohol during holidays. If they can get good food and a good quality accommodation, then they will be happy” said Akhthar.
Indian tourists to Maldives are increasing, however most of them are of upper class. Hence, if middle class people are targeted, it is possible to see good results.
