A meeting of the SAARC Development Fund is going on in Sri Lanka. Deputy Economic Ministry Abdullah Mohammed who is taking part in the meeting told Miadhu, that many discussions that are beneficial to Maldives are taking part in the meeting.
Abdullah said that, even now the fund has arranged 6.7 million dollars for the SABA training facility. He said that the work of the center will begin as soon as land is allocated. In all SAARC countries the center is located in the capital city.
Abdullah said that in addition 1 million dollar was given to establish a community facility. He said that the facility will have modern amenities which the public can use to prepare food and it will have a packing center as well.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and review the developmental efforts of member countries. The meeting is held once in two years and the last meeting was held in Bhutan.
Abdullah Mohammed said that a delegation from SDF is to visit Maldives on 29th of this month.
