MD of MmPRC, Haaris have said that it was a huge success that the 1st tourist to Maldives this year was a 6 time repeat traveller.
Haaris said that 2017 was a successful year for the Maldivian tourism industry and that they will continue to conduct special campaigns to make this year successful as well.
"We will conduct special activities to promote tourism. We will conduct special campaigns on social media. The first tourist of this year, George from UK have also told us that he will help us with the campaign" saod Haaris.
Haaris said that 1.389 million tourists visited Maldives in 2017. He said that 140,000 tourists visited Maldives in December and that it was a record in the history of Maldives. He said that this was a 20 percent increase compared to December 2016.
In addition he said that the number of people who used the airport last year was at a record level as well.
