Officials of Villa have stated that they have no hope of getting new alcohol stocks to villa while the temporary permit given to villa by the government is about to expire.
The official stated that, only Royal Island Resort is able to get alcohol and that is also after making them sign a statement. He said that they are not able to get the stock because the Economic Ministry has not sent some letters they need to send to the Customs and MIRA.
“There is nothing we can do. Without the letters of the Economic Ministry we cannot get anything” said the official.
He said that they are running out of stock in Paradise Island Resort, Holiday Island Resort, Fun Island Resort and Sun Island Resort. He said that once the stocks are out then they will have to close the resort.
Meanwhile Tourism Minister Zameer said that they are dealing with the matter in a way that will have very little impact on tourists.
