Maldives Police Service has revealed that they found 215,000 USD and 150,000 MVR from a bag owned by Justice Ali Hameed.
Police Spokesperson Abdullah Shifan said that they have detained former President Maumoon, Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed, Justice Ali Hameed and head of DJA Hassan Saeed regarding this case. He said that they have received evidence that the judges accepted bribe money and purchased a flat.
In addition, they said that Ibrahim Siyad Qasim, Fathimath Naasiya (Ali Hameed’s wife), Faaris Maumoon, Abdullah Sinaan, has been arrested and that they are searching for Ilham Ahmed.
Police said that, they have evidence that Hassan Saeed bribed the judges and influenced the judges. In addition police said that they found evidence from a black box that was taken out from Endherimaage. The box was later found in the house of a secretory of Maumoon.
Furthermore, they said that a prominent company in the Maldives gave a 2.4 million dollar loan to Ali Hameed’s family and that they were investigating it too.
