Lawyer Maumoon Hameed have said that criminals are afraid of the law but today criminals are enforcing the law.
Maumoon Hameed said that the criminal procedures act was not made to protect any certain individual, but it is for everyone. He said that the law should not be suspended in any case.
“Those laws are not for anyone specific. It should be enforced on everyone. It gives the same rights to everyone. The purpose of the law is to prevent arbitrary arrests and unlawful investigations” said Maumoon Hameed.
Maumoon Hameed said that what is currently going on is unlawful because the criminal procedures act has been suspended. He said that hence what is going on today cannot be accepted. In addition he said that the state of emergency was announced to suspend the criminal procedures act and to prevent the people from getting the protecting the law provides.
